Final Individual Cultural Diversity Course Reflection #4

Final course reflection

Cultural diversity course is mainly about when people from different cultures, societies, religions and origins live and interact together.  Furthermore, it’s all about the importance of respecting each other’s’ cultural differences. In addition to that it reflects the respect of fundamental rights as well as, it is our collective strength.

Cultural diversity course was one of the most interesting courses I have ever had. The three classes that I enjoyed the most were when we studied about slavery because I was unaware about the fact that this issue is still exists in our societies. Furthermore, I enjoyed the class when we learned about

cultural dimensions because that made me realize that our cultural values helps us to communicate effectively with people from different cultures. Additionally, I enjoyed working on Emirate video project because I enjoyed working with my group members and I liked our team spirit as we were enthusiastic and passionate about what we do.

Learning about cultural diversity is very important course for students because it helps them in communicating effectively and competently with people from different cultural backgrounds which is important in the workplace.

I think that students should start learning about cultural diversity when they reach the middle school because people in this age become aware of identity and different cultures.

The most interesting thing I have learned in this course is respecting other cultures because that helps in preserving humans’ dignity.

If we had harmony day the best time for it would be in the new year, because in the first day of the year people feel excited about the new year and it would be in the winter, so the weather would be great.

In conclusion, Cultural diversity course was one of the most significant courses I have ever had in my life and every student should take this course. I found this course interesting because it changed my perspective about dealing with people from different cultures as it made me believe strongly in social justice.

What surprised me is knowing that slaves still exists in all over the world and their percentage has increased since the past. The reason behind slavery is having no choice but to survive in other countries because their country is poor and they are looking for a better life.

Actually, I felt sorry after knowing about how poor people are being treated in terms of accommodation; as they were promised by county’s recruitment agency to get higher salaries.

In my view the main two entities that would solve this issue are Qatari government and the Indian government. The Qatari government can set policies regarding good accommodation standards and  the Indian government can set punishments on practicing scam in all of the recruitment agencies.
